De Lettuce B.E.A.R Partnership with Bluelab

14th June 2023

Our recent partnership with Bluelab — an industry leader in farming technology , marks a pivotal moment for our nation’s agricultural industry. At De Lettuce B.E.A.R, we are proud to introduce Malaysia’s first indoor vertical lettuce farm and hydroponics specialist. Our grand opening was a momentous occasion, attended by esteemed guests from the Ministry of Agriculture in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, as well as delegates from prestigious universities like Lasetsart University, Thailand and Nong Lam University, Vietnam.

Our indoor farm is ingeniously designed, featuring state-of-the-art vertical farming racks and custom light recipes, all made possible through our collaboration with Bluelab. We have implemented innovative irrigation methods, combining NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) with DWC (Deep Water Culture) hybrid systems, ensuring the sustainable growth of nutrient-rich lettuce varieties.

The farm encompasses eight growing zones with distinct fertigation, lighting and climate requirements. All are fully managed by Autogrow MultiGrow, a sophisticated system that ensures optimal conditions for production growth.

Hwang Shuang Chuan, Regional Business Manager at Bluelab, expressed his excitement about the partnership. He stated, “There is a lot of potential in Malaysia for enhanced food production with vertical farming, and we are thrilled to provide the technology that will help to support De Lettuce B.E.A.R with their advanced vertical hydroponic system.”

The Group Chairman of De Lettuce B.E.A.R, Jack Wee, commented on the benefits of Autogrow’s advanced control systems, said “Bluelab allow De Lettuce B.E.A.R. to optimise the retention of essential nutrients in vegetables sustainably.”

Bluelab’s cutting-edge technology and system integration contribution to De Lettuce B.E.A.R represents a significant step forward in supporting advancement and innovation in Malaysia’s agricultural sector. The partnership paves the way for future collaborations and positions Malaysia as a potential leader in sustainable, indoor vertical farming.
